trying to make a lesmistuck graphic so rereading a part of homestuck and I never noticed before
karkat hugging terezi. right after terezi kills vriska so vriska can’t go off after bec noir.
and OK can I just make a comment about this part? because this is part of why I like Terezi and dislike Vriska. they’re best friends and very close and pretty much opposite sides of the same coin. they both make great sacrifices, but those sacrifices are different. vriska gets a bunch of her friends killed her in order to be the one to fight off bec noir, and terezi personally kills her best friend to save everyone else still alive.
of course vriska didn’t know bec would kill terezi and everyone else (i would assume that after noir killed vriska, he’d go back to get the others), but look at the motivations here. vriska and terezi both want to keep everyone safe, but vriska wants glory for it, and terezi just wants to stay alive. doing so causes her great personal turmoil, as does vriska’s actions, but terezi has to live with the consequences; we never get to see what might’ve happened to vriska if she’d had to face the outcome of her actions.
but anyway that wasn’t at all the point i wanted to make when i took this screenshot. the point i wanted to make is that terezi is probably already hating herself so much in this panel, and karkat, who watched it happen, isn’t ‘oh my gosh you killed vriska you did a horrible thing what is going on why is everyone killing everyone’ having a panic attack, he’s hugging her
